A Quest for Wisdom in the Information Age
There is a lot of information out there, very easily accessible nowadays due to the surge of AI tools like ChatGPT. Is wisdom the new black?
Once upon a time, those who possessed information were highly valued because information was difficult to access. People even had to travel across the world just to obtain a single piece of it. But that world has changed.
Today, the challenge is no longer finding information. The internet — and now AI tools like ChatGPT — have made information abundant and instant. As a result, simply knowing is no longer enough to stand out.
This shift is reshaping the job market as well. Many roles that once relied solely on information are being automated or redefined. While this drive towards higher productivity opens new opportunities, it also raises the question: if machines can process and reproduce information faster and cheaper than humans, what remains uniquely ours?
One answer may lie in wisdom — the ability to discern, connect, and act on information with judgment and depth. Information can be copied; wisdom must be cultivated. So how is wisdom gained? Through knowledge, experience, deep thinking, trial and error? What must a person do to cultivate it — and have power in this information age?
